Kellogg Community College sophomore pitcher Chad Mayle and Henry Ford's sophomore outfielder have been named NJCAA Division II Baseball All-Americans today.  Mayle was named a NJCAA Division II First Team All-American. Mayle, who was named Player of the Year in the MCCAA, pitched 57 and 2/3 innings allowing 39 hits, 11 runs, 6 earned, walking 21 and striking out 56.  He record an 8-1 record with a 0.94 ERA on the season.

Madison (WI) College scored six runs in the first two innings and cruised to a 9-1, seven inning win over Grand Rapids Community College today to eliminated them from the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series.  The Raiders (28-28) managed just five hits all day and did not score until the bottom of the seventh inning. The loss end the Raiders season.

Brendan Bender has RBI doubles in the sixth and eighth inning to help the Grand Rapids Community College beat Lackawanna (PA) College 6-2 in the elimination bracket of the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series in Enid, OK. Bender had a two out double in the sixth to score Ian Stankus, who had reached on an error, to give Grand Rapids a 3-1 lead.  He then drove a ball of the wall in left field with one out in the bottom of the eight to score Mike Batstelli, who had reached on a bunt single, to key a three run inning. Bender went 2-for-4 with two double, two RBI and a sacrifice bunt.

The Grand Rapids Community College baseball team dropped the opening game of the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series to #3 - Scottsdale (AZ) Community College 8-3 on Saturday.  The Artichokes used a four run fifth inning to break open a two run game.  Grand Rapids scored scored three in the sixth but could not score the rest of the game.
