            <description>&lt;p&gt;On Monday night, the Michigan Community College Athletic Association held a reception to honor former Kalamazoo Valley Community College athletic director and MCCAA President Dick Shilts for being awarded the NJCAA Service award back in 2012. &amp;nbsp;The MCCAA and Region XII have been looking for a good time to honor Shilts and the Shanty Creek meeting provided the perfect backdrop for the ceremony.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <title>[MCCAA] Macomb's Biebuyck named Athletic Director of the Year</title>

            <description>&lt;p&gt;Macomb Community College&amp;#39;s Brent Biebuyck has been named the named the MCCAA Athletic Director of the Year for the 2012-13 season. Biebuyck earned the award due to his hard work with inside the Macomb Community College athletic department but also his work in the MCCAA and Region XII. &amp;nbsp;Biebuyck is the MCCAA Eastern Conference Director and also the Region XII Softball Chair. He also helps with the administration of the Region XII baseball and District G &amp;amp; H softball tournaments.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <title>[MCCAA] Grand Rapids CC wins Charlie Chanter MCCAA All-Sports Award</title>

            <description>&lt;p&gt;Grand Rapids Community College won the Charlie Chanter MCCAA All-Sports Award for the second consecutive year. &amp;nbsp;The Raiders won the Western Conference Volleyball title, Finished runner up in the MCCAA Golf Tournament and Men&amp;#39;s Basketball. They finished 4th in baseball and 5th in men&amp;#39;s basketball. &amp;nbsp;The Raiders softball team finished second. &amp;nbsp;They got bonus points for winning the MCCAA Volleyball Tournament and finishing runner-up in the MCCAA Golf Tournament. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The Raiders finished with a 87.98 point average, 3.65 points ahead of second place Mott Community College. &amp;nbsp;Oakland CC, last years runner-up, finished third. &amp;nbsp;This is the 14th time the Raiders have won the Charlie Chanter All-Sports Award.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <title>[Baseball] Jackson's Higgins, St. Clair's Fry drafted in third day of MLB Draft</title>

            <description>&lt;p&gt;A pair of Michigan Community College Athletic Association sophomore pitchers were selected on the third day of the Major League Baseball draft. Jackson Community College&amp;#39;s Blake Higgins was taken in the 16th round today by the St. Louis Cardinals. The 6&amp;#39; 6&amp;quot; right hander pitched in just six games this season, starting three with a 2-0 record and two complete games. &amp;nbsp;He threw 23.2 innings, allowing seven hits, six runs, all earned, walking 18 walks and striking out 40 batters. He posted a 2.28 ERA on the season. He was taken on the 485th pick of the draft.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <description>&lt;p&gt;Kellogg Community College sophomore pitcher Chad Mayle and Henry Ford&amp;#39;s sophomore outfielder have been named NJCAA Division II Baseball All-Americans today. &amp;nbsp;Mayle was named a NJCAA Division II First Team All-American. Mayle, who was named Player of the Year in the MCCAA, pitched 57 and 2/3 innings allowing 39 hits, 11 runs, 6 earned, walking 21 and striking out 56. &amp;nbsp;He record an 8-1 record with a 0.94 ERA on the season.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

The loss end the Raiders season.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <description>&lt;p&gt;Brendan Bender has RBI doubles in the sixth and eighth inning to help the Grand Rapids Community College beat Lackawanna (PA) College 6-2 in the elimination bracket of the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series in Enid, OK. Bender had a two out double in the sixth to score Ian Stankus, who had reached on an error, to give Grand Rapids a 3-1 lead. &amp;nbsp;He then drove a ball of the wall in left field with one out in the bottom of the eight to score Mike Batstelli, who had reached on a bunt single, to key a three run inning. Bender went 2-for-4 with two double, two RBI and a sacrifice bunt.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

She also stole 18 bases and only struck out eight times. &amp;nbsp;She also posted a .943 fielding percentage.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

The Jayhawks shot 916 for the 54 hole, two day event at Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek, MI. &amp;nbsp; Muskegon finished 32 shots behind Owens (OH) Community College who shot 884 to win the Region XII Championship. &amp;nbsp;Both teams will compete next week at the NJCAA Division II Golf Nationals at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro, AL. &amp;nbsp;Grand Rapids Community College finished third with a 54 hole total of 924. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

            <description>&lt;p&gt;Delta College&amp;#39;s Emily Schrader and Kalamazoo Valley Community College&amp;#39;s Bethaney&amp;nbsp;Murphey have been named Players of the Year in the Eastern and Western Conference respectively in a vote of conference coaches. &amp;nbsp;Schrader, a 5-3 sophomore shortstop, batted .422 with seven doubles, one home run, nine RBI and 45 runs scored and 18 stolen bases. &amp;nbsp;She also had a .922 fielding percentage for the Pioneers. &amp;nbsp;Murphey, a 5-7 freshman catcher/infielder, batted .518 with 15 double, nine home runs, 56 RBI and 39 runs scores. &amp;nbsp;She also stole two bases and had a .986 fielding percentage for the Cougars. &amp;nbsp;Murphey also earned Freshman of the Year honors in the Western Conference. Macomb Community College&amp;#39;s Kam LaCarter was named the Eastern Conference Freshman of the Year. &amp;nbsp;LaCarter, a 5-3 freshman infielder, batted .470 with five doubles, three triples, 11 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 36 runs scored.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
