Volleyball - Tue, Aug. 19, 2014

The Oakland Community College volleyball team is ranked sixth in the NJCAA Division II pre-season volleyball poll that was released today. The Raiders finished with a 36-4 overall record and won the MCCAA Eastern Conference title with a 10-0 record.  They won the MCCAA volleyball tournament and NJCAA District E tournament last year. They finished fourth in the NJCAA Division II volleyball tournament.  

Volleyball - Thu, Dec. 5, 2013

Kalamazoo Valley Community College women's volleyball player Chantel Davenport has been named a NJCAA Division II All-American.  The 5-8, freshman, middle blocker averaged 3.63 kills per set and 0.70 blocks per set for the Cougars.  She also averaged 0.17 aces and 1.42 digs per set. She hit .234 for the the season.

Volleyball - Sun, Nov. 24, 2013

The Oakland Community College women's volleyball team lost to Johnson (KS) County Community College on Saturday afternoon, 25-18, 26-28, 25-23, 25-16 to finish fourth at the NJCAA Division II Volleyball National Tournament hosted by Owens (OH) Community College.  The Raiders, who finished second in 2011, end the season with a 36-4 record.  Miranda Fuerst of the Raiders was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Volleyball - Sat, Nov. 23, 2013

The 16th ranked Grand Rapids Community College women's volleyball team advanced to the fifth place match on Friday defeating Des Moines (IA) Area Community College 19-25, 27-25, 21-25, 26-24, 16-14 at the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Nationals being held at Owens (OH) Community College. Shelby Ruffner led the Raiders (33-7) with 16 kills and three blocks, while Emily Johnson added 11 kills, two aces, five digs and three blocks.  Abbie Gortsema added nine kills and five blocks and Jenna Karel had seven kills and eight digs.  Amanda Glaza chipped in 17 digs, while Amanda Wyse ahd 13 digs.  Grand Rapids will face Southwestern (IA) Community College in the fifth place game at 2:30 PM today.
