Men's Basketball - Thu, Apr. 11, 2013

Glen Oaks Community College sophomore guard William Powell has been named a NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball First Team All-American.  Powell led the Vikings to the MCCAA Western Conference title and the NJCAA District 9 men's basketball championship game.  The Vikings were beat in the championship game by Grand Rapids Community College.  Powell averaged 20.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game for the Vikings, who finished the season with a 27-4 record.

Men's Basketball - Sun, Mar. 24, 2013

The Mott Community College men's basketball fell to Louisburg (NC) College 74-69 in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament consolation bracket championship at Danville (IL) Area Community College.  The Bears (31-5) were led by Malik Albert with 16 points, four rebounds, three steals and three assists.  Fred Mattison added 15 points, 10 rebounds and three steals, while Devon Foster added 10 points.  Louisburg (35-2) was led by Paul Stone with 18 points, nine rebounds and three assists.  Mattison was named to the All-Tournament team for the Bears who finished eighth in the nation this year. 

Men's Basketball - Fri, Mar. 22, 2013

The Mott Community College men's basketball team defeated Phoenix (AZ) College 65-52 to advance to the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament consolation bracket championship game.  The Bears (31-4) were led by Malik Albert with 19 points, three assists, three steals and three rebounds.  Fred Mattison chipped in 14 poitns, four assists, five rebounds and two steals, while Chavis Mattison added 10 points and seven rebounds.  Phoenix (21-13) was led by Chris Solomon with 17 points, six rebounds and two steals.  Mott will now face Louisburg (NC) College Saturday at 1:00 PM EDT in Danville, IL.
