Steve Schmidt looks for final voting push for the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame

Four NJCAA Division II National Championship, coached four NJCAA Division II National Players of the Year, 18 NJCAA All-Americans, seven National Tournament appearances, coached in over 1,000 games.

Four NJCAA Division II National Championship, coached four NJCAA Division II National Players of the Year, 19 NJCAA All-Americans, seven National Tournament appearances, coached in over 1,000 games He is also a member of the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Hall of Fame, Greater Flint Sports Hall of Fame, NJCAA Men's Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and this summer he will be inducted into the Lansing Area Sports Hall of Fame. He is the winningest college coach in the history of the state of Michigan and will earn his 800th win next season. On top of that he has sent scores of young men onto four-year colleges.
Yes, his resume is almost complete, and you can help him check off the next one off his list. Schmidt is on the ballot for the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in the coach's category. He is the only one Junior College representative on any of the ballots. In fact, there is not one representative from Michigan Junior Colleges in the Hall of Fame. Schmidt said, "It gives recognition to all the hard work and commitment that goes into coaching in the MCCAA (that has been overlooked and underappreciated to this point,)" The only JUCO player in the Hall in Ben Wallace who played at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, but you can change that.
