Defending National Champion Lansing Takes Home 2024 MCCAA Men’s Cross Country Championship, March Earns Runner of the Year Honors

GOODELLS – Lansing Community College, the 2023 NJCAA Division II National Champions, added to its trophy case on Friday (Oct. 25) with a MCCAA and NJCAA Region XII Division II Championship. The Stars, led by MCCAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year, Ben March, placed five inside the top eight for a team score of 21. The Macomb Community College tandem of Dylan Penberthy and Brandon Penberthy broke up an all-Lansing top five by finishing in third and fourth place, respectively. Mid Michigan College's Drew Moore was sixth, while teammate Mason Cross was ninth and St. Clair County Community College's Ethan McCombs was 10th.

While March's medalist pace of 26:03.4 led the way for Lansing, Lucas Hopkins was next in second place at 26:08.8, followed by Aiden Janes in fifth at 26:17.7, Michael Allen in seventh at 26:27.1 and Logan Zahn in eighth at 26:31.8. The top five Stars earned All-Region and All-MCCAA honors while teammates Julian Edwards (15^th, 26:55.7) and Koda Brandt (17^th, 26:59.5) also earned All-MCCAA recognition.

Lansing head coach Jim Robinson was named MCCAA Coach of the Year and later voted NJCAA Region XII Coach of the Year after the Stars earned the program's latest NJCAA Region XII Division II title.

Kellogg Community College captured the NJCAA Region XII Division III crown behind an All-MCCAA performance out of Julian Borst (14^th, 26:43.5).
