Grand Rapids women's cross country team claims first MCCAA title, Meyering wins individual championship

The Grand Rapids Community College women's cross country team claimed their first ever MCCAA women's cross country championship on Saturday. The Raiders become just the fifth school to earn the women's cross country title. St. Clair County Community College finished second and Kellogg Community College claimed the third spot. Jackson College and Muskegon Community College rounded out the top five. The race was held at Grand Wood Park in Lansing, MI on Saturday. 

On the individual side, Audrey Meyering claimed the individual title, completing the five kilometers in 20:21.8, 22 second ahead of Hannah Wilkerson of Kellogg Community College. Jackson College's Olivia Hubbard was third, while Emma Berning of Kellogg came in fourth. St. Clair's Lily Connelly finished fifth and Kiah Becker of Grand Rapids CC was sixth. Macy Whipple of Muskegon was 7th, St. Clair's Caitlyn Rogers was eighth and Elizabeth Meyering of Grand Rapids was ninth. All nine runners earned All-MCCAA honors. Both Meyering's, Wilkerson, Hubbard, Connelly and Whipple also earn All-Freshman honors. Raiders coach Matt Sicilia was named MCCAA Coach of the Year. 

Grand Rapids also claimed the NJCAA Region XII Division II Championship, while Kellogg Community College claimed the NJCAA Region XII Division III Championship. 

The NJCAA Division II National Championship is on Saturday, November 14 in Fort Dodge, IA.
