Trio of MCCAA Teams Featured in NJCAA Volleyball Preseason Rankings
With the 2025 women's volleyball season set to begin this weekend, the NJCAA released its preseason rankings on Monday (Aug. 18) and a trio of MCCAA programs were represented in the polls. Reigning NJCAA Division II Great Lakes District Champions, Grand Rapids Community College and Mott Community College, were inside the top 20 in their division, while Delta College made the top 15 in NJCAA Division III.
Coming off the program's latest successful season in 2024 where they went 26-4 overall with a district title and a trip to the national tournament, the Raiders of Grand Rapids Community College enter 2025 ranked 12th nationally. The top returner for head coach Chip Will and the Raiders is Taylor Kik, an All-American, All-Region and All-MCCAA performer from a season ago. Kik was also named MCCAA Northern Conference Player of the Year in 2024.
In his first season at the helm of Mott in 2024, head coach Eric Lazowski guided the Bears to a district crown and punched a ticket to the NJCAA Division II National Championship. With a 2024 record of 28-8 overall, the Bears enter the new season ranked 20th in NJCAA DII and return starting setter MCCAA Eastern Conference First Team All-Conference performer, Skylar Cramer.
Following a 16-14 campaign from a season ago and a NJCAA Region XII Division III Championship, the Pioneers of Delta College, led by head coach Angie Compton, will begin the 2025 campaign ranked 15th in the DIII national poll. The new look Pioneers showcase a revamped roster in 2025 and are poised to make it back to the NJCAA Division III National Championship after falling one match short in 2024.
